Morning or Afternoon: When is the Best Time to Get Married?

Getting Married in Summer
Summer Weddings

An afternoon ceremony is ideal for summer, helping you avoid the peak heat. The more comfortable your guests feel, the more engaged and joyful they’ll be.

I recommend considering April, May, September, and October for your wedding date. These months offer perfect temperatures and beautiful lighting throughout the day.

On a photographic level, the midday summer ceremony brings problems with very strong shadows, and you might find yourself photos with very strong shadows on your eyes and under your nose. And there is little I could do about that.

Getting Married in Winter
Winter Weddings

For winter weddings, a morning ceremony is generally better. In December, the sun sets around 4:30 p.m., so unless you’re planning an evening atmosphere, morning is the best option.

If you envision dancing and celebrating after dark, the early sunset offers a unique opportunity: consider cutting the cake at sunset and starting the party as the sun goes down. It doesn’t get much more magical than that!

Lastly, I highly recommend hiring a professional wedding planner if your budget allows. A planner can offer many creative setup ideas and, most importantly, manage your wedding day so you can relax and fully enjoy every precious moment.
